School murals and gym graphics, printed on site

Athletic directors, principals and district facilities teams use Surface Printers to put mascots, records boards, hallway murals and reading-corner art straight onto painted block and drywall.

Who it's for

Who it's for

Schools buy wall art the hard way: an artist for a week, a vinyl order that takes a month, or a mural that never gets updated. Think about it this way: the printer can live in the district and go where the walls are.

Athletics

Athletic directors

Gym walls, mascots, records boards, weight rooms and locker rooms. Change the records board when the record changes.

Schools

Principals and teachers

Hallway murals, values walls, library and classroom art, the school crest at the front door. All printed on site, after hours, on breaks or over a weekend.

Districts

District facilities teams

One printer can serve every school in the district, scheduled around the calendar instead of an installer's. It can be financed, or bought from a capital budget.

What gets printed

What it replaces

Gym wall decals and wraps

Hand-painted mascots

An artist's week becomes a printed day, and every school in the district gets the same mascot in the same color.

Banners and posters

Art that's part of the wall instead of hanging on it.

How a job runs

How does a school mural job run?

01

Set up at the wall

The printer rolls down the hallway on its track and prints up to 11 feet high. Training covers the prep for painted block, drywall and brick.

02

Print around the school day

10 to 20 sq ft an hour. A 100 square foot mascot is a day or two, and the ink cures as it prints.

03

Next school

Same file, same color, next building. A district printer travels in a van to wherever the next wall is.

Which printer

Walls run on the Pro Series or the Tech Series, both vertical UV printers with white ink standard, at $44,995 and $39,995. Gym floors and center court logos run on the Floor Series at $39,995. Every package includes training, lifetime support and up to five years of hardware warranty on new machines.

Questions

Questions about school murals and gym graphics

Can it print on painted cinder block?

Yes. Painted block is one of the most common school walls it prints, along with drywall and brick.

Can a district buy one printer for every school?

Yes. One printer travels in a van to whichever school is next. Districts use financing or a capital budget. See the financing page or call Jason at 910.679.0962.

How much does a gym mural cost to print?

The material is ink, about fifty cents a square foot. A 100 square foot mascot is about $50 in ink, plus your operator's time.

Can it print a center court logo?

Yes, with the Floor Series. Every gym floor and finish is different, so send Jason a photo of the court and how it's maintained, and he'll recommend the approach and what to expect.

Who runs it at a school?

A facilities tech, an art teacher, or anyone on staff who's comfortable with a file. Training is one full day, recorded, and support is lifetime, 9am to 8pm ET, seven days a week.

Send us the wall

Text a photo of the wall and its rough size to Jason Ott. You'll hear back with the prep, the print time and which printer package fits.
